"I didn't do this change (SRS)
because I wanted to be miserable, I was miserable. Now I'm happy."
Aderet
Aderet, is a singer born in Israel. Her name, Aderet, has a religious connection. Aderet comes from the word adayr, which is one of several Hebrew words for glory or honor. She released her first single in December 2000, titled, "Le'at Uvatuah" ("Slowly and Surely"), is "a mantra to take life slowly and think very well before you do something," she says. "This is my message to everyone... Take your time and use it well."
When she began performing in small clubs in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, Aderet says her look was deliberately androgynous. "I took this slowly," she says of her gender change.
Aderet took her time during the transition. She completed her mandatory military service as an educational NCO, took voice lessons and danced on the club circuit.
At the age of 20, after SRS, she started performing in small clubs. Her first concert was a the the "Ha'uman 17" club in Jerusalem. Aderet has plans to release a single in English for the European and American market.
