Mianne Bagger
Mianne Bagger

Mianne Bagger, was born in Denmark on December 25, 1966. In 1992 she underwent SRS in Australia where she now lives. She became the first transexual woman to win South Australian State Amateur Championship in 1999 by beating Lyn McGough 5 and 4.

Mianne's participation was encouraged by the Australian Women's Golfing Association who had spent a year formulating its policy on transexual players. Mianne has received surprisingly strong support from a notoriously conservative amateur establishment.

The Australian Women's Golfing Association's stance in the absence of central legislation: "There are some people who take a position that is very simple and say she (Mianne) is not a woman because of the residual physiological power that a transgender female will have . . . as a sport, we had to make a decision ourselves. Taking into account all the information we've had, our policy will be that Mianne and other transgender females who have had sexual reassignment will be female golfers."

I would like to thank Mianne for her help in making this site possible.
